Antenna Switch and Power Meter

Postby enghamradio » Sat May 02, 2015 12:57 pm

I designed an antenna switch than can switch up to 3 low power transceivers and measure the power output. I use it to switch multiple Peaberrys built for different bands. Below are some of the features:

1) Switch control and power measurement is controlled by software on a PC
2) USB connection to PC
3) USB powered
4) Transceiver not connected to the antenna is terminated in 50 ohms so no damage will be done to a transceiver that transmits when not connected to the antenna
5) Power and PEP are both measured
6) Measures both power output of the transceiver and output power of an amplifier connected to the transceiver (50W maximum)
7) Software displays digital power output and has an "analog" meter display
8) Labels for the radios on the GUI can be changed with the GUI

The amplifier power measurement requires an additional PWB and separate enclosure.
I would consider supplying a kit with PWBs if enough people are interested. Any feedback or comments are appreciated.

Below is a screen capture of the GUI.

Hi,
Yes, I am interested in this. This is somewhat along the lines of an interface board I was considering developing.

Possibly interested. Can you provide any details on the circuit, microcontroller, code, gui, etc?

The circuit uses a DLP-IO8 Data Acquisition Module for the USB interface along with a PWB for the antenna switch and power meter. The power meter uses an AD8307 log amp along with a peak detector circuit for PEP measurement. The GUI is written in Visual BASIC. To achieve higher accuracy, software calibration can be done through the GUI by entering two power measurements.
