When I first tried running Peaberry CW, I got the following message.

Peaberry CW.gif
Peaberry CW.gif (8.72 KiB) Viewed 10690 times

After I changed the output device to speaker, the program came up for an instant, then gave the following message.

Peaberry CW 2.gif

What am I doing wrong?

OpenGL problem most likely. Might be fixed in the next version. You can also try updating your video drivers.

Art -

Looks like the same problem I had. David directed me to the event viewer where the error messages are kept. Turns out Peaberry CW was looking for a DLL file in the Windows\System32 folder which was missing. I did a search and found that DLL in another folder, moved it to \System32 and that solved the problem. My copy of PeaberryCW runs now but is still missing the panadapter. I reloaded the drivers but still no joy.

Please test the new 0.3 version. I don't have intel video chip to test so I need you to tell me if it's any better.

David - Version three is a step closer. Instead of having a blank space where the pan display should be, it's black, and clicking on it changes the frequency. When I first started it up there was an error message, something to the effect that it couldn't fill a buffer, driver not present. But since that first start, the error message has not shown up again, and there's no error message appearing in the Event Viewer.

Finally got the error message again at startup -- "Out: Cannot Post Buffer (6 - There is no driver installed on your system)." Symptom is black screen where panoramic display should be.

The 0.3 version works, but I also get a blank white screen. I can change frequencies by clicking in the blank area, and I can copy CW signals, but I'm tuning the radio blindly.

On my Atom netbook, v0.3 doesn't work as well as previous versions.

What driver version are you using for the Intel HD? Also, what model chip? e.g. HD 3500

Intel HD?

Under device manager, the display adapter information says:

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3600 Series
Driver Date 12/30/2011
Driver Version 8.14.8.1065

The latest two or three versions of PB_CW just crash on this Atom netbook.

I am trying to find another test platform since the i5 laptop still exhibits the weird sounding audio and heavy AGC artifacts. Can't use the netbook either. All the other computers here are Linux. I want to narrow the problem down to the software or who knows, so I need to see if it's something on that PC or what. I am listening in the ARRL Dx CW contest and the PB_CW RX is very challenging to copy.

UPDATE to previous message...

I got a work laptop, which is a brand new i7 running Win7 Pro (we don't use Win 8). Big SSD, 16 GB RAM, really fast.
It runs the PB_CW 0.5 OK.

However ... the CW note definitely has the same warble on the i7 as on the i5 box. It's a phase sort of modulation. Signals all sound like they are transpolar propagation. The amount of the warble changes as I approach zero beat, which I assume is the center of the passband. I will keep playing with it.
