Removable band components?

Postby mosheen » Sun Mar 29, 2015 10:26 pm

I'm waiting on my V2 to come in, and I'm trying to decide what bands. It occurred to me that I could socket the coils and caps for the band choices, buy more parts for the different bands, and then swap things around if I wanted to switch bands. Tedious, but not something I would do often. I'm now thinking that a daughter board would fit nicely in that area and it would be easy to build some boards for the ranges.

My problem is I don't understand the RF side of things enough yet to know what kind of problems this would raise. Am I just asking for trouble with this idea? I'm not worried about the mechanical side, just the interference / performance side.

Thoughts? Old topic?

EDIT: Never mind. I had glanced at the schematic chart and didn't really grasp how many changes it would take. I'll just save up for a couple more! :D

Thanks. I hadn't really digested the schematic until I was building it today and I was thinking the signal path would be easy to tap. Thanks for the insight!
