USB not always connecting, not very stable at first power-up

I have been using my SDR V2 since late December. I have noticed that it takes sometimes a minute after being powered on for the USB handshaking to take place.
It will connect- then immediately disconnect. Then 15-20 seconds later reconnect.
Once it's connected it will stay connected.
I have had times when I had HDSDR up and running (not started yet) and then hear WIN XP reconnect (bong-ding) but have to restart HDSDR in order for it to start hearing what is coming in on the antenna.
Anyone else experience similar symptoms?
Seems also that once the SDR V2 has been on for sometime (regulators producing heat) I can power cycle it all I want and it reconnects every time.

have you tried a different (powered) USB hub or no hub at all? In case something funky is happening, and/or other devices on the same hub are interfering...

Hi Mark,
The first and obvious question is: Have you tried a different USB port?

Yes, several USB ports. This appears to be possibly a heat related problem because once the unit has been on for a while (after the initial connection) it will connect continuously, no matter what USB port I use.

Hi Mark,

Ah, OK. Dollars to donuts, it is a marginal solder connection on the PSoC.

Using a SUPER magnifying scope I found that R12 one end had not been soldered. If your experience level is "first crack out of the barrel" as far as surface mount technology is concerned- carefully keep track of your work.
Will save a lot of silly debugging issues.
Thanks Ron. Good catch about the PSOC. Got me near the right area. Now it connects first time every time and stays connected without any hang-ups.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for getting back to us and letting us know. It is always good for other kit builders to know the outcome of an issue.

Glad you have it working. Now go work the world :!:
