Peaberry SDR v2 on Ubuntu

Postby smull » Mon Feb 16, 2015 9:33 pm

I'd like to use a peaberry SDR v2 with Ubuntu 14.04. Is there link to a guide to do this? I have looked and can only find a few scraps of information. I do not want to plunk down $150 if it is not going to work. Thanks!

Hi,
Quisk runs on Linux: http://james.ahlstrom.name/quisk/

Since is Python based it should run on any flavor of Linux but is just a semi-educated guess on my part and yes it should work with the Peaberry. If there is a forum for Quisk, I would check there first.

These pages cover some advanced Linux configurations:
https://kb8ojh.net/sdr/linuxsdr.html
https://kb8ojh.net/sdr/digimodes.html

What makes the Peaberry special is that it's complete SDR hardware which uses well known standards like USB Audio and DG8SAQ's Si570 control. So every operating system has multiple software options to experiment with.

Hum,
The Raspberry PI Foundation has released the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. It has a quad core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU and 1GB ram. An original model B has been running a custom written application that monitors my solar installation for over two years with only a few hick ups.

This just might be the push I need to get off Windows based SDR software and on to a Linux solution. The Pi 2 is only 900MHz but it just might have the juice to run a SDR application particularly if the applications are adapted to multicore architectures in the future . At $35 US, I think it is worth a shot. Best of all, most of the Linux based applications are open source.

That is the platform I am using, Ubuntu (Kubuntu) 14.04, with quisk, fldigi, wsjtx, qsstv. The trickiest part is getting wrapped around the sound system. Right now, everything works will using a simple alsa loopback device as a virtual audio cable except for wsjtx, which wants pulseaudio.
