WSJT-X v1.4.0-rc2 and Peaberry V2

General discussion and support for the Peaberry SDR V2.

WSJT-X v1.4.0-rc2 and Peaberry V2

Postby kz1x » Wed Jan 14, 2015 3:29 am

OS in use is Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, with a Peaberry V2, 60-40-30-0, stock firmware.

I notice that the stated version of WJST-X has the Peaberry V2 listed in the 'radios' list and the sound card options show my two Peaberry AF interfaces.

May I assume this is supposed to work, somehow, when suitably configured?

That is to say, I don't / won't need a CAT application such as Quisk, to run the radio control interface?

If so, does anyone have any idea what the CAT & PTT settings should be?

With the previous version (1.1?) I had to use quisk. WSJT-X expected to interface to a "standard" audio device, that is, it doesn't have a built in SSB modulator, it leaves that up to the radio, hence the need for quisk. You'll need a loopback audio device to connect them. The new version just looks like it has a hamlib interface to control the Peaberry V2. The PTT selection should probably be CAT.

I have been directly in touch with the code authors. I should have updated my post.

Once the code is completed, which it is not as of now, there will be no need for Quisk or the audio loopback. The control code in WSJT-X will operate the Peaberry V2 by itself, and, the audio interface will use the built in sound device in the Peaberry as well.

Very nice. Did they offer a timeline for completion?

The last email I got said: "Give me a couple of days..." but that was several days ago.

I suspect the work needed is a taller order than initially considered. I can wait.
