USB

Postby ramos » Sat Oct 11, 2014 3:00 am

Hi everyone. I have just assembled the USB and KEY and everything seems OK, total current a bit low (170 mA) but LED is steady ON. The problem is that Windows can't find the driver (windows 7 - 32 bits). The DG8SAQ-I2C is there (with an exclamation mark) but even telling windows where is the downloaded driver, the bugger doesn't find it. Any thoughts? thank you. Ramos

Hi,
Did you download the driver from : viewtopic.php?f=4&t=96 ? I have not experienced a problem on Windows 7 if the instruction are followed in the build manual.

Hi,
Windows can be so problematic. The only thing I can suggest is:
1) Plug in the Peaberry to the USB port.
2) Within the device manager, delete the device including the driver.
3) Unplug the Peaberry from the USB port.
4) Reboot windows.
5) Plug in the Peaberry
6) Within the device manger, examine what you have for the Peaberry device and update the driver.

If that does not work, I don't have a clue.

It's probably best to take the error message at face value and work it from there. Maybe you didn't unzip the files. Maybe your unzip tool is buggy. Maybe you didn't give it the right path. Maybe you used a disk drive that's somehow not typical. Or maybe your install of Windows is just so old and crusty that some things have stopped working.

Well, the unzip tool works perfectly, the path is correct and in the main storage device and the computer is running Windows 7 professional and is used about 4 hours a day.

Anyway, something is not well and probably my mistake (as I already said before), otherwise I wouldn't be here asking for clues, but considering the level of politeness in the forum exercised even by the author, I decided to find the reason myself and If not successful, just dump the kit and consider the money lost.

Well, I'm sorry, that you feel that way. I was only trying to help.

For your information, I performed the exact steps I listed in a previous post and the results were as expected.
1) Uninstall the device and select the option to remove the driver.
2) unplug the peaberry
3) reboot
4) plug in the peaberry
5) the peaberry comes up as DG8SAQ-I2C
6) Update the driver. Point to the TOP level directory of the download loaded driver software
7) Peaberry comes up as a peaberry device.

Without being able to look over your shoulder and see what you are doing, and with the sketchy information you have provided, it is almost impossible to help.
