question on U2

Postby ns7eart » Sun Jul 21, 2013 1:21 pm

My unit is completed and runs 170 ma solid green with no connection to computer .
The U2 voltage reg is warm, when USB connected to computer the current goes up to 210 ma
and U2 is hot I can hold my finger on it for a bit but not for long.
Is this normal ?

From the manual:

"R1, U1 and U2 will get very hot during normal operation of the radio. You will burn yourself if you touch them. These devices are designed to operate properly up to 150°C/300°F. The regulators have a thermal shutdown feature so if they are working they are not too hot."
