Noise when starting CW transmission

Postby ha8ap » Thu Sep 05, 2013 4:28 pm

Hello everyone!

After I updated the firmware to the latest (2013.01.19) version on my Peaberry SDR v1 radio (80 – 40 m) I noticed some kind of noise when I start to transmit in CW. I have tried it on both of my computers (PC and a Laptop both with Windows Xp Sp3) with two different versions of PowerSDR-IQ (v1.12.20 | v1.19.3.15). The results were the same.
I have attached an audio file. This is what I hear on my control receiver. You can hear the noise at the beginning of every separate signal series (V series) when I press the paddle.
How can I get rid of this noise?
Any helpful tip would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like some of the receive audio is being transmitted when PowerSDR switches to transmit mode. Maybe you're sending the sidetone to the transmitter instead of transmitting the I/Q signal.

Thanks for the reply.
I have tried a few different options on the PowerSDR to get rid of the noise but nothing helped.
Could you recommend some specific option in the setup to solve my problem?
Maybe there is something that I overlooked.

PowerSDR doesn't run on my operating system and doesn't work under a VM like HDSDR does. I don't have experience with its setup.
